What does EDDM stand for?

Every Door Direct Mail. It's a USPS program, and both names are USPS registered trademarks.

How much is EDDM postage?

$0.260 per piece for EDDM Retail as of October 4, 2026. See rates.

What's the minimum?

200 pieces per Retail mailing, or every address in a ZIP Code with fewer than 200.

What's the most I can send?

5,000 pieces per day per ZIP Code through Retail. A BMEU has no cap.

What size does a piece have to be?

Longer than 10.5 inches, taller than 6.125 inches or thicker than 0.25 inches, and no bigger than 15 x 12 x 0.75. Try the size checker.

How heavy can it be?

3.3 ounces for Retail.

What goes in the address area?

"Postal Customer", which reaches every home and business on the route. "Residential Customer" reaches homes only.

Do I need a return address?

EDDM Retail doesn't require one, and undeliverable pieces aren't returned anyway.

What happens to pieces that can't be delivered?

USPS throws them away. There's no forwarding or return.

Can I pick only certain houses?

No. EDDM goes to every address on a route. To reach specific homes you need a mailing list and addressed mail.

Can I choose by age or income?

You can see census age, income and household size for each route in the EDDM tool and choose routes with them. You can't filter individual homes.

When will it be delivered?

USPS doesn't guarantee a date for Marketing Mail. Ask your Post Office how it schedules EDDM.

Can a nonprofit get a lower price?

Not through EDDM Retail. Nonprofit prices aren't available for it.
