TOO SMALLunless thicker than 1/4 inQUALIFIES15 in MAXover 10.5 in12 in MAXover 6.125 in
Drawn to scale. A piece qualifies if any edge crosses a dashed line (or it's thicker than 1/4 in) and it stays inside the outer box. Max thickness 3/4 in, max weight 3.3 oz.

Volume

  • Minimum: 200 pieces or 50 pounds per Retail mailing. A ZIP Code with fewer than 200 deliverable addresses is the exception, and you can mail all of them.
  • Maximum: 5,000 pieces per day, per 5-digit ZIP Code, for Retail. A larger area can be split across days or across ZIP Codes, or sent through a BMEU, which has no cap.
  • Routes come whole. The Retail tool adds every address on a route. You can't select half of one.

Piece

  • Weight: 3.3 oz or less for Retail.
  • Size: longer than 10.5 in, or taller than 6.125 in, or thicker than 0.25 in. No larger than 15 x 12 x 0.75 in.
  • Shape: flexible, rectangular and uniformly thick.

Bundles

  • 50 to 100 pieces per bundle.
  • No taller than 6 inches.
  • One facing slip on top of every bundle, under the straps.

Content

  • No personal information.
  • No bills or statements of account.
  • No handwritten or typewritten matter.
  • Marketing Mail isn't sealed against postal inspection, so USPS can open it.

Service

  • No forwarding and no returns. A piece that can't be delivered is thrown away. You won't get it back.
  • No extra services. Certified, tracking and similar add-ons aren't available.
  • No delivery date guarantee. Marketing Mail can be deferred.
  • No nonprofit prices on EDDM Retail.
What's the EDDM limit per day?

5,000 pieces per day per 5-digit ZIP Code for EDDM Retail. BMEU mailings have no daily cap.

Can I send fewer than 200 pieces?

Only if you're mailing every address in a ZIP Code with fewer than 200 deliverable addresses.

Can I mail to part of a route?

Not through EDDM Retail. Routes are added whole.
